Job Description:

BeZero is looking for an exceptional candidate with project expertise to join our carbon credit ratings team. The ideal candidate would have an academic background in environmental and/or natural sciences. In addition, their professional experience will bring knowledge of developing projects on the ground, auditing/reviewing the carbon accountancy parameters of these projects such as baselines, carbon pool models and/or development of sector-relevant methodologies.

Knowledge and understandingof the Voluntary Carbon Offset Market is essential. We are looking for a driven, creative and intellectually curious individual excited by the prospect of working at an innovative start-up aiming to rethink the frameworks by which carbon offset credits are assessed for quality.

The role will be focused on the management of scientists that research the science and evidence behind different types of projects, and continuing to build our database of evidence and ratings and content stream for the sector. The successful candidate will be expected to drive analytical development, BeZero’s research and refine ratings frameworks for this sector level. It will also require interacting with both internal and external stakeholders and consequently, strong written, presentational, and oral communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of knowledge in offset projects and the ability to create effective messaging for a diverse audience. The candidate will report to BeZero’s Director of Carbon Ratings and can work remotely or from our London-based office on GMT hours.

Responsibilities:

• Expanding and developing our ratings and analytical models for the sector

• Writing research reports on market trends and dynamics

  
  

• Attending conferences and events representing BeZero Carbon

  
  

• Working towards monthly targets through delivery of ratings, reviews and content

  
  

• Potential management of rating scientists, depending on experience

  
  

Our ideal candidate will:

• Have an academic background in environmental and/or natural sciences.

  
  

• Have professional experience in the VCM; For example, a background in Forestry Projects, Cookstoves Projects or engaging with a Standards Body.

• Be comfortable speaking to high-level clients and external stakeholders.

  
  

• Have a strong understanding of the voluntary carbon market and the risks offset projects face.
