What will you be doing?
The main aspect of this role is to help identify and apply for funding grants for our range of projects as well as seeking opportunities for core funding. Key responsibilities would include
Working closely with the WCA CEO to help identify funding and grant opportunities. Attempting to apply for at least one grant per month for WCA projects or initiatives. Help prioritise time-sensitive grant applications to help ensure applications are submitted by required deadlines. Assist with the management of spreadsheet/database of potential funding/grant giving bodies. Work with WCA CEO to explore additional funding opportunities and funding streams that fit within WCA program strategies.
Beyond the specifics of grant fundraising, we are always looking for other funding opportunities so input, ideas or suggestions that can be pursued would be highly valued. We're a small, passionate team and are looking for help to make an even greater impact on ocean protection.
What are we looking for?
Experience in fundraising, grant application writing, grant research. There is scope in this volunteer role beyond simple grant writing for input into wider fundraising strategy development, so any additional experience in this broader context would be welcome.
What difference will you make?
Our mission is quite simple - to protect cetaceans and their habitats through global collaboration. We've been doing this for 10 years and we want to build on our current success. You're input will help us to grow the organisation and have an even greater reach than we currently do. We have plans to expand our work around the world. Promoting responsible whale watching practices, empowering coastal communities in sustainable ocean protection initiatives, reducing whale/ship collisions, fighting against ocean bycatch and undertaking research that will protect not only cetaceans but the entire ocean environment.
