Role Summary:
- Assist in organizing the ICLEI World Congress 2024 and Daring Cities 2024.
- Support both in-person and virtual event preparation and execution.
- Contribute to program development and speaker management.
- Manage event websites, email accounts, and track logistical details.
- Create content for newsletters, promotional materials, and social media.
Role Requirements:
- Enrollment in relevant vocational training or university program.
- Proficiency in web editing (WordPress), desktop publishing (InDesign), and virtual platform management (e.g., Zoom, Whova).
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Experience with MailChimp, social media, and events promotion is a plus.
- Understanding of non-profit or membership organizations, and local/regional governments is beneficial.

Our Members and team of experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships, and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability.
The Role: As an intern in the ICLEI Global Events Team, you will be expected to support the planning and implementation of the ICLEI World Congress 2024 and Daring Cities 2024. Your main tasks will include supporting the preparation and execution of both in-person and virtual events, program development, speaker management, maintenance of event websites, management of event email accounts, editing of videos, management of the app and virtual platform, tracking of logistical information for event participants, speakers, partners, and staff, development of content for newsletters, promotional material, and social media channels.
Job Requirements: You should be enrolled in a vocational training or university in a relevant subject, such as Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or similar. Experience with web editing (WordPress preferably) and desktop publishing software (preferably InDesign), management of virtual platforms (Zoom, Whova…), and fluency in written and spoken English are required. Familiarity with desktop publishing software (preferably InDesign) and experience using MailChimp, social media management and events promotion, working with non-for-profit and/or membership organizations, and working with local and/or regional governments would be advantageous.
Benefits: The position is available to start as soon as possible at the ICLEI World Secretariat in Bonn, Germany for a period of 6 months. Working from home practice is available, with the number of days to be determined by the team lead. The assistant will be supervised by and report to the Global Events Officer. Remuneration is 1000 Euros per month (full time) before taxes and social insurance fees. Working hours are 40 per week (full time), with 2 days of leave per full month. The working language is English. International travel may be required. The contract will be based on German laws.
