- Role Summary:
- Provide technical support to Country Programmes and Regional Office in Southern Africa.
- Integrate and strengthen gender equity and social inclusion within all programming.

- Role Requirements:
- Postgraduate degree in gender studies, social sciences, or a relevant field.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in gender & development at a mid/senior level.
- Expertise in Southern Africa's gender dynamics and inclusive programming.
- Experience with gender equity frameworks and tools.
- Networking and alliance-building skills with a focus on gender equality and social inclusion.
- Understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding principles.

WaterAid is looking for a Technical Advisor - Gender, Southern Africa Regionally shared resource, to play a vital role in our mission to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere by 2030.
The purpose of this position is to provide technical support to the WaterAid Southern Africa Region's Country Programmes (CPs) (Madagascar, Mozambique, Malawi, and Zambia) and the Regional Office and WA partners in integrating and strengthening gender equity and social inclusion (GESI) and using WaterAid's Equity, Inclusion and Rights (EIR) Framework in all our programming.
This includes support in strategy and programme design, budgeting, implementation, influencing and advocacy, impact assessment and learning and documentation of good practices.
To be successful, you'll need a post graduate degree in gender studies, social sciences or any other relevant discipline from a Higher Education recognised institution. At least 8 years of proven experience at a middle or senior level in gender & development. Deep understanding of gender dynamics in the Southern Africa context, including understanding and experience in working on social norms and attitudinal changes required to make progress on gender and equity.
Proven experience in using gender equity/transformation frameworks and tools in programmes and/or policy influencing. Demonstrable technical expertise in inclusive programming. Experience in networking and alliance building with local rights-groups focused on gender equality and social inclusion. Good understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding principles and no record of child abuse or Safeguarding issues.
