Brand Designer
Founded in 2004, Rapha exists to inspire the world to embrace life by bike. Over the past 20 years, Rapha has become one of the most revered brands in the world of sport. Our in-house Brand Creative team has played a pivotal role in shaping the brand’s voice through a wide range of world-class campaigns and compelling storytelling.
We are now seeking a new Brand Designer to join the creative team, driving the evolution of the brand’s design and communication work, and ensuring consistency across various touch points.
Role Overview:
As a Brand Designer, you will work across brand campaigns, editorial, retail, and product. Collaborating with the Associate Creative Director and Heads of Departments, you will be instrumental in brainstorming, conceptualising, and art directing creative briefs. You will also contribute to the evolution of brand design, graphics, and branding
Given the diverse nature of the role, it is crucial that you approach each task with an open mind and are comfortable working in different styles and mediums. You will push the boundaries to create an engaging aesthetic and drive impactful visual storytelling. This role demands keen attention to detail, creative ownership, and a passion for innovative design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pitching and conceptualising design direction across various briefs and brand pillars.
- Creating proof of concept decks.
- Presenting ideas to the Creative Director and Head of Brand and incorporating feedback for final sign-off.
- Designing and producing artwork for brand & social campaigns, editorial & digital, print & retail.
- Creating visually engaging motion animations for individual campaigns and broader brand applications.
- Acting as a brand guardian, ensuring all work aligns with the Rapha tone of voice.
- Anticipating challenges and finding creative solutions.
About You:
- Proven experience working for brands and/or design agencies.
- Experience in branding, print design, and digital design, with evidence of conceptual thinking.
- Excellent design skills, with strong consideration to the interplay between photography and type.
- Strong sensibility for photography and film.
- Experience in animation/motion design, including proficiency in After Effects. Interest in 3D software like Blender or Cinema4D is advantageous.
- Knowledge of contemporary designers, photographers, animators, artists, and studios.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills, with the ability to build and present creative presentations with clear, compelling ideas.
- A keen interest in the outdoors industry.
- Ability to balance persistence with flexibility.
- Collaborative at heart, with a positive outlook and team-oriented approach.
