The British Museum, founded in 1753, is a leading visitor attraction with a remarkable collection spanning over two million years of human history and culture. Our world-famous collection includes the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, the Sutton-Hoo finds, and the Lewis Chessmen. As a Catalogue Manager, you will work closely with curatorial, research and documentation staff to deliver and manage an accessible, consistent, and up-to-date catalogue of the Museum’s collections for research and public access. You will ensure quality control of information and catalogue entries in the Museum’s data systems (currently MI+). You should be highly IT literate with proficiency in Excel and Word and high levels of proficiency in collections databases. Understanding and knowledge of the UK collection management documentation standard (Spectrum) is also required. You should have excellent co-ordination and time management skills, the ability to plan and prioritise effectively, and excellent communication skills.
