Operations Manager
We are currently looking for an operations manager to join the on-site team at Petalon. This person will straddle the three areas of the business:
The Studio, where our floristry, packaging and order management happens
The Farm, where we grow and cut our flowers
Customer Service, including our digital stock management and website
The right person for the job will need to be a genuine all-rounder who is willing to get stuck in wherever they are needed. They will need to have a strong organisational brain and be someone who enjoys imposing order on chaos. They will act as a conduit between these three areas of the business, working within each and taking a holistic view of the business to make sure all three link together seamlessly. Following an initial training period we will give the successful applicant the space to take your own initiative and to work out new ways of doing things. We’re offering a career at Petalon and expect the person who takes this job to become a confident leader within the business. Petalon has an outstanding company culture and we expect the successful applicant to contribute to this. This is not a florist job, though this person will make bouquets in an auxiliary capacity at times. We do not require floristry experience for this role.
Essential strengths
- Fantastic organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and IRL
- Initiative to devise and implement new systems
- Comfortable working both at a computer and on your feet
- Confident with numbers and Excel
- Calm under pressure
Experience
No essential requirements. We’re open-minded about where you’ve come from and want you to convince us that you’re right for the role. Our intention is to teach you everything you need so although some skills are useful, the thing we are seeking most is someone who works hard, learns fast and uses their initiative. You must be someone who is conscientious enough to do excellent work when nobody is watching.
Considerations
We are based near Rejerrah in TR8. Please do not apply if you do not have easy access to us. Public transport to our farm is unfortunately almost non-existent so you would need your own means of travel.
Petalon is a great place to work but it can be hard work with whole days spent on your feet. Though this job is not based primarily in the field it will still be physically taxing at times.
Hours
Full time. 4/5 days a week, including Saturdays. Usually either 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm.
Salary
Dependent on experience but from £24k, pro-rata.
Start Date
Ideally late August / Beginning of September.
