The role
As a fast growing fintech, we are looking for an experienced Head of Finance / Financial Controller, to take ownership of and manage all aspects of Vestd’s financial management. This will include corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as developing our internal control policies and procedures, and taking responsibility for financial risk management. The role will be primarily about our UK business, but will also have significant international dimensions.
Reporting directly to the COO your role will be pivotal for the company to achieve our strategic business goals by driving forward process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy and management of company finances. You will have significant experience in working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial management is clearly communicated across the business, ideally within a fast-paced or tech environment.
Your main focus will be to provide:
- Manage all accounting operations (Xero based), including supplier payments, expenses and payroll, month end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements including group consolidated results with international subsidiaries
- Support all required corporate finance or fund raising activity
- Coordinate the preparation of FCA regulatory reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with filing tax requirements
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Additional duties as necessary
Requirements
The core skills we are looking for are as follows, with bonus points on offer to help you really stand out from the pack:
What you will bring:
- 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Accounting qualification or equivalent
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA or QBE qualified
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience of working in and producing group consolidated accounts with international subsidiaries
- Corporate finance and fund raising experience
- Experience with month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (Xero preferably)
- Experience of working within a regulated entity and the associated reporting requirements
- Impeccable attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
- Comfortable to operate within, and enable, an entirely remote working environment
- Familiarity with tools such as G-Suite, Slack would be advantageous
- Experience and support for fundraising/financing
