The British Museum is seeking a full-time, permanent Programme Manager: Design Management. The role offers a salary of £54,558 per annum.

The Organisation - The British Museum Founded in 1753, the British Museum’s remarkable collection spans over two million years of human history and culture. The Museum is one of the leading visitor attractions and its world-famous collection includes the Rosetta Stone, the Parthenon sculptures, Egyptian mummies, the Admonitions Scroll, and the Amaravati sculptures.

The Role - Programme Manager: Design Management In this role, the postholder will programme manage design management services to facilitate the delivery of the Museum’s core capital and masterplan projects by leading and coordinating Design Managers in the team. Projects are Museum-wide and range from high-profile front-of-house projects to innovative infrastructure projects, along with renewal and replacement projects in a unique heritage environment and organisation. This role aims to provide assurance that robust design management practices are integrated within programme delivery and projects are fit for business requirements and befitting of a world-leading museum.

Job Requirements Working in a highly skilled role with a variety of stakeholders, you will be educated to degree level in construction or built environment-related discipline (or with equivalent experience) and have excellent communication abilities. You will have significant experience working in museum or gallery environments, as well as knowledge, skills and experience working with planning approvals and listed building consents. A competent manager, you will have had prior experiences line managing, providing pastoral care and / or leading teams and be able to monitor progress against action, as well as working in listed building contexts. A self-starter, you will work upon your own initiative, managing targets and timelines for various projects and briefing relevant stakeholders as necessary.
