Welcome to Surfers Against Sewage. We are a marine conservation and campaigning charity that has grown into one of the UK’s most successful organisations in our field over the last 30 years. Our mission is to protect the ocean and its inhabitants from threats such as sewage and plastic pollution. We are looking for a Senior Press Officer to join our team.
The Role: As the Senior Press Officer, you will take the lead on SAS’s press relations, shaping and delivering the charity’s messaging while cultivating strong relationships with the media. You will be a key member of the Communications team, a core function within the charity. This five-person team is tasked with upholding and enhancing the SAS brand, managing communications channels, overseeing content creation, and providing cross-organisational communication support. Your primary focus will be on press relations, working closely with the Campaigns & Policy team.
Job Requirements: We are looking for someone with exceptional copywriting skills, proven experience in delivering successful media campaigns, a passion for the fast-paced world of news, and the ability to distil complex technical and political details into compelling, accessible messaging. An understanding of the debates surrounding sewage and plastic pollution is also required.
