The British Museum is seeking a creative, innovative and enthusiastic Interpretation Manager to join the Interpretation Team in the Learning and National Partnerships department. The main purpose of this role is to work closely with curators and designers to update and refresh displays in the Museum’s permanent galleries, and to support the development of special exhibitions.
The post holder may also need to work with community partners, project teams and contractors to help develop and deliver innovative displays that offer compelling narratives and inspiring experiences. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure that the content and interpretation in our displays and exhibitions meets audiences’ needs and exceeds their expectations. You will be committed to developing displays that offer diverse perspectives by using processes that are collaborative, inclusive and participatory.
Key areas of responsibility include acting as the ‘audience advocate’ on gallery of exhibition teams, managing contractors working in areas such as editing, picture research and visitor research, and answering relevant public enquiries and presenting the work of the Interpretation Team to staff and visitors.
