  • Role Summary:
    • Enhance the engineering excellence of Braze's Salesforce Platform by integrating and improving DevOps practices.
    • Manage the Gearset ecosystem, driving updates and maintenance across development channels.
    • Implement best practices for DevOps platforms and source control, focusing on robust and redundant systems.
    • Lead Salesforce releases and collaborate with various teams to ensure security and integrity throughout the development process.

  • Role Requirements:
    • Minimum 5 years in Salesforce DevOps/Engineering.
    • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools like Gearset, Copado, or Flosum and with version control systems such as Git.
    • Proficiency in managing Salesforce environments, releases, and development aspects such as Apex, Visualforce, and APIs.
    • Experience in Agile development environments.
    • Understanding of Salesforce security best practices and compliance controls.
    • Preferred: Salesforce certifications, advanced knowledge of Salesforce Shield, and scripting experience for DevOps tasks.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Being a member of the Salesforce Team and part of the larger Growth Department here at Braze we leverage best-in-class analytics, technical experimentation, productized services, and bold curiosity to empower other divisions to do their best work through data-driven decisions and innovative solutions.

The Braze Salesforce Team is looking for a Salesforce DevOps Engineer to spearhead our pursuit of engineering excellence of our Salesforce Platform, focusing on integrating and enhancing our DevOps practices. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for refining our development workflows and elevating our Salesforce setup. This individual will take charge of overseeing our Gearset ecosystem, orchestrating updates and maintaining our development channels. 

The position demands a distinct combination of technical acumen, practical Gearset application skills and a comprehensive grasp of Salesforce development methodologies. We are looking for candidates who are committed to staying ahead of the curve in Salesforce DevOps practices through ongoing research, experimentation and implementation, which will empower our teams to excel through automation and self-service capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • DevOps Platform & Source Control:  Actively manage and configure our Gearset platform to ensure it is operational and meets team needs. You’ll identify improvement opportunities and implement best practices to ensure robust and redundant systems
  • Release Management: Own Salesforce releases, collaborating with development and operational teams, pre and post deployment
  • Security Collaboration: Work closely with Salesforce Development, Operations, Governance, Legal and IT teams to develop comprehensive security practices that safeguard our data, metadata and integration integrity at all points in our development process
  • Empowerment through Automation: Evaluate and refine our tools and processes to enable our teams to be self-sufficient, fostering flexibility and continuity across Productions and Dev Environments
  • Innovative Solutions: Engage in collaborative problem-solving to meet technical challenges, roadmap future solutions, and continuously raise the bar for Salesforce operational excellence
  • Team Success: Work closely with the development team, vendors and internal teams to facilitate the promotion of changes throughout environments using Gearset to automate and streamline processes

WHO YOU ARE

  • 5+ years of related or equivalent experience in Salesforce DevOps/Engineering
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps Tooling such as setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce using tools like, Gearset, Copado or Flosum
  • Experience with version control systems like Git and understanding of branching and merging strategies
  • Experience managing multiple Salesforce environments and sandboxes, including data seeding and data masking
  • Proven track record of managing Salesforce releases, including metadata and data migrations
  • Extensive experience in Salesforce development, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, and Salesforce APIs
  • Strong Apex scripting skills to automate manual tasks as part of the DevOps pipeline
  • Experience working in Agile development environments and participating in Agile ceremonies
  • Experience with integrating Salesforce with other systems using REST/SOAP APIs
  • Understanding of Salesforce security best practices, SOX & IT General Controls for implementations and change management

Preferred Experience:

  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I/II, Salesforce Certified Development Lifecycle and Deployment Architect, Salesforce Certified Administrator 
  • Advanced knowledge of Salesforce Shield and Event Monitoring
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell to automate DevOps tasks
  • Ability to ensure code coverage using automated unit testing
