What will you be doing?

Dementia Together Wirral are looking to recruit a dynamic and committed Chair to lead our wonderful charity and Board and shape our exciting future. About us Dementia Together Wirral (DTW) is a vibrant and successful charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), Charity Commission registration number 1179533. Our main aim is to help relieve social isolation by offering quality activities and events to people affected by dementia and their carer partners. We provide varied activities in safe and friendly environments for those living with dementia throughout the Wirral Peninsula community. Since 2018, DTW has seen a dynamic surge in membership, an expanding network of supporters, and a rapidly rising profile. We have recently been nominated and are honoured to have now been shortlisted for the Kings Award for Voluntary Services for the Borough of Wirral. About The Role This vital role will involve:

Providing leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees and enabling the Board to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity. Supporting the Trustees by encouraging innovative, ambitious, and well-thought-out strategic decision-making. Ensuring the organisation fulfils its objectives as outlined in its constitution document guiding any adjustments to its vision and mission. Strengthening our capacity to analyse, manage, and make informed decisions based on our financial position.

What are we looking for?

You will have many unique qualities to bring to Dementia Together Wirral which may include:

being passionate about our charity. a strong and effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to respect the confidences of colleagues. an ability to be able to contribute effectively as a Chair/Board member. Strategic leadership and management expertise with a general background in governance, HR or fundraising. Financial experience (this role is supported by our bookkeeper and accountant). Strong personal and professional networks with a willingness to develop relationships with key supporters, donors, members and staff. Creative thinking and a desire to help ease the social isolation of those living locally with dementia.

What difference will you make?

The Chair of the Board of Trustees is essential in helping our charity thrive. They will lead the board, making sure we stay true to our mission whilst guiding us through important decisions. By bringing people together, the Chair will help create a strong, united team of trustees who work well together and keep us moving forward. They will connect with our supporters and the local community, building trust and raising awareness for our cause. With their guidance, we can use our resources wisely and find new ways to grow, enabling us to make a bigger difference in the lives of those we support. A recent comment from one of our friends succinctly sums up the impact DTW has: 'I would like to say a massive thank you to you and all your team for the wonderful work you all do by arranging,  organising and making such an enormous and pleasurable difference to our loved ones lives. We had a  wonderful time again last week on the narrowboat trip, I am truly grateful'.
