Lewisham/Bromley Credit Union seeks marketing director to oversee business development initiatives
Overview
Voluntary role - no salary
Hybrid: SE London/remote
Expires at anytime
Lewisham Plus Credit Union is seeking a Marketing Director to join its board. This is an exciting opportunity for a member of the local community with appropriate expertise to contribute to the further development of a successful community organisation, providing vital services across Lewisham and Bromley.
Given the “common bond” of the credit union, candidates must live or work in the London Boroughs of Lewisham or Bromley or the SE19 postcode area.
As a credit union, we operate as a community bank – we seek to encourage our members to save and borrow with us. We are a mutual organisation, owned by and run for the benefit of all our members, whose vision is to “promote financial inclusion and be the trusted and preferred provider of financial services in Lewisham and Bromley”.
We are volunteer led (the Board and the Supervisory Committee are all volunteers), with a paid staff led by an experienced CEO. We are regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
This role will involve oversight and support of the marketing and business development activities of Lewisham Plus, supported by our paid staff.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and driving forward our marketing activity across all platforms, including social media. Our aim is to engage with both existing and new members and promote our services to local employers, cross-sector partners, community groups and other stakeholders.
Lewisham Plus Credit Union is looking for an individual who has:
· A collaborative approach, and a strong enthusiasm for Lewisham Plus’s vision to “promote financial inclusion and be a trusted and preferred provider of financial services in Lewisham and Bromley”.
· Experience in consumer marketing and business development, ideally within a financial services context.
· Strong financial and business acumen.
· An understanding of risk management and the demands of operating in a regulated environment (including the Conduct Rules and the new Consumer Duty).
· A willingness to be flexible in terms of time commitment, whilst recognising that the primary responsibilities will comprise monthly board meetings.
We currently have a Board meeting each month on a Wednesday evening, and three Board strategy meetings each year, on a Saturday morning. Board recruitment in the last few years has brought in significant expertise and experience; we are now looking to bolster the Board’s skills in the areas of marketing and business development.
