We are looking for a personable, practical, and experienced safety leader with a background in lifeguarding, boat handling, or marine safety. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing safety operations, training teams, and handling incidents with confidence and credibility, particularly when working alongside external agencies such as coast guards, lifeguard services, and local authorities.


Full Time Risk, Safety and Support Manager

Your Role:

As Risk, Safety and Support Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining SwimTrek’s safety framework across all of our locations. You will play a key role in ensuring that we maintain an excellent degree of water safety on all of our trips, training staff, and leading emergency response efforts. Your experience in lifeguarding, boat handling, or marine safety will be crucial in building and maintaining a world-class safety culture at SwimTrek.

While risk management is a key part of the role, we are looking for a hands-on, proactive leader who can assess changing conditions, support guides and skippers, and respond decisively in real-time situations.

Reporting to the Operations and Sustainability Director, Key Responsibilities include:

  • Continuous Improvement & Safety Culture

The list of responsibilities should not be considered exhaustive. You may be required to undertake various other duties as reasonably required.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:
  • A background in lifeguarding, marine safety, or boat handling.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage safety operations in dynamic environments.
  • Confident in handling emergency situations and working with external agencies such as coastguards and lifeguard services.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage and motivate teams in safety training and operations.
  • Comfortable working on the water, adapting to different conditions, and making real-time safety decisions.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience in adventure tourism or outdoor recreation safety.
  • Experience training and assessing water safety personnel.
  • First aid or rescue certifications (e.g., RLSS, SLSGB, RYA, or equivalent maritime/lifeguard qualifications).
  • Experience working with marine or water safety regulatory bodies.
