The Communications and Engagement Coordinator role is central to the Entrepreneurship Institute’s mission to engage audiences in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills. This role will be responsible for all campaigns and content created for social media, including developing content for video, blogs, podcasts and events. Our aim is to encourage and compel audiences to join King’s entrepreneurial community and/or further engage with the Institute’s offering.

Collaboration is key to this role, and the post-holder will be expected to seek out partnerships with internal partners at King’s and across the wider entrepreneurial ecosystem. The post-holder will also work with our Programme leads to support in seeking participant feedback and testimonials to create promotional content.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan digital content, social media campaigns and events that promotes the Institute’s activities across key events in the student lifecycle.  
  • Support in creating and producing content about entrepreneurial skills, including the sourcing of content and case studies that demonstrate improved outcomes and enhanced employability. 
  • Develop engaging, creative and innovative content, campaigns and events through internal and external partnerships that support the Institute’s vision and programme. 
  • Maintain an awareness of current trends in the entrepreneurial ecosystem that would provide new and creative opportunities for communications and engagement, including user-generated content. 
  • Support the Institute’s diversity and inclusion objectives and ensuring that all content and events comply with digital accessibility standards. 
  • Edit video and audio content, including our Disruptors podcast. 
  • Engage with micro-communities within the Institute to create content and case studies that demonstrate the benefits of developing entrepreneurial skills. 
  • Engage with Faculties, other Institutes and student societies to develop tailored communication and engagement opportunities. 
  • Seek out and nurture strategic and mutually beneficial partnerships within the entrepreneurial ecosystem for content and events, focusing on organisations that promote diversity in innovation and entrepreneurship. 
  • Support with any marketing, PR and external engagement activities where events and content creation are required. 
  • Support and contribute to a strong, high-performing and energetic team culture and agile ways of working. 
  • Play an active role in shaping and delivering the team-wide Sustainability Plan and finding ways to champion sustainability in your role and further integrating it into our approach to developing entrepreneurial skills and start-ups fit for the future. 

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.  


Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria  

  1. Excellent communication skills, including a high standard of written and spoken English. 
  2. Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience. 
  3. An interest in entrepreneurship and innovation. 
  4. Creative and strategic use of social media and other digital communication platforms as promotional tools. 
  5. Audio and video editing skill and experience. 
  6. Ability to network and develop new relationships externally and internally, with a collaborative approach to work and supporting others. 
  7. Event management experience, both digital/online and in-person. 
  8. Team player who enjoys collaboration. 
  9. Well organised with excellent attention to detail. 

Desirable criteria

  1. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Premiere Pro and Photoshop). 
  2. Knowledge of, and contacts within the entrepreneurial ecosystem in London. 
  3. Community engagement experience.
