About Global Citizen

Global Citizen is a movement of engaged citizens using their collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030. On our platform, Global Citizens learn about the systemic causes of extreme poverty, take action on those issues, and earn rewards for their actions as part of a global community committed to lasting change. 

One of the key ways we grow our movement of engaged Global Citizens is through content on globalcitizen.org and its accompanying channels: articles, videos, and social media content that bring important issues of the world to readers wherever they are. This is journalism with a purpose — content creation to help make the world a better place for all. 

We’re currently looking for a Content Creator, based in London, to join Global Citizen’s content team and create editorial, video, and social content designed for both our global and UK audiences. 

Role Overview

Our Content Creator will create original and engaging content and work with the rest of the Global Citizen content team to bring creative concepts to life across different social formats and platforms.

You’ll pitch and create content across a range of formats and topics — including compelling interviews, features, listicles, issue explainers, event-supporting content, and more. You’ll work closely with colleagues within the UK and globally, as part of a dynamic and creative content team. 

We’re looking for someone proactive with creativity, ambition, and a drive to create and amplify educational, inspirational, and compelling content about the most urgent issues the world is facing today. 

So if you’re a digital native creative with a strong understanding of the irreverence of internet culture; you love creating social-first short form video and graphics; you’re a brilliant writer; and you have a gut-instinct for what works on social, get in touch.

What you'll do:

• Be involved in briefings, brainstorms, developing, and proposing creative content ideas that reflect Global Citizen’s mission, values, and areas of interest — including climate change, poverty, gender equality, education, water & sanitation, food & hunger, and more;
• Pitch content ideas that are relevant, engaging, and exciting, and work with the team to develop and test these ideas in line with our global content strategy;
• Create engaging original content for social media platforms (Instagram Reels, Stories, Tiktok, Twitter, Facebook, and graphic content);
• Write articles in line with Global Citizen’s tone of voice relating to our areas of focus;
• Use SEO to create the most engaging content for our audiences;
• Write scripts for diverse video and social formats;
• Shoot high quality reels and original photos (with smartphone);
• Post produce video material; 
• Stay up to date with current trends on social media, Reels, and Tiktok;
• Leverage key cultural moments and our Global Citizen festival events to create content that speaks to our audience.

Requirements

Who you are and what you’re good at:

• Hands-on experience creating engaging content for various social media platforms;
• Excellent English-language creative writing skills; 
• Enjoy being in front of the camera;
• Ability to write impactful and engaging copy that resonates with Global Citizens in our brand’s tone of voice;
• Deep understanding of our target audience (age 18-35) and what makes them tick;
• Working knowledge of Premiere and Photoshop;
• Comfortable in using (and open to learning) other platforms including Illustrator and InDesign;
• Prioritising workloads and hitting deadlines in a busy environment;
• Working in a fast-paced, tenacious, and creative environment: if you thrive in a fluid startup environment then you will love Global Citizen;
