Beam is an award-winning Tech for Good venture creating equality of opportunity at scale, starting by crowdfunding brighter futures for homeless people. Funded by the Mayor of London and some of the UK's top tech entrepreneurs and impact investors, Beam has rapidly proven a powerful new model to help disadvantaged people get into rewarding work and stable housing Beam has been covered widely, including by the BBC, Times, FT, Independent, Evening Standard and Sky. In 2018, just a year after being founded, Beam was named by The Guardian as one of the most important social innovations globally and by The FT as one of top 100 most innovative organisations in Europe. In 2021, Beam was awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise and was named by WIRED magazine as one of the Top 10 Startups in London.
The Beam Team is small, diverse and supportive. We have recent grads and experienced entrepreneurs. We combine expertise across tech and product, machine learning and AI, casework and homeless services, data analysis, strategy consulting and more.
To date, Beam's supporters have changed the lives of 1,872 people. That’s people that have been left behind, such as homeless people, refugees and prison leavers. They do this by completely disrupting the traditional model of homelessness support, by allowing someone who wants to get back on their feet to crowdsource funds from the wider community to fund training for a new career. Beam are using the crowdfunding model in a totally unique and innovative way, and it works. As Beam’s reach continues to grow, as is their team. They offer flexible, partially remote working options, as well as career and wellbeing coaching and more. Why not check out their live roles?
