About us

Beara Beara was setup as a collaboration between entrepreneur Jake Bullough and skilful leather workers in Bolivia. With generations of experience working with a combination of robust cowhide and super-soft natural suede, the idea was for these craftspeople to turn Jake’s designs into a unique collection of bags.

Having built our employees from 12 to over 65 who all work exclusively for Beara Beara we have a very close connection with our suppliers. We provide a fair wage along with job security and career prospects and have large plans to expand our production facilities further to include creche facilities and community projects to generally improve the education and standards of living of our employees. These principles are not only extremely important to us but also to our customers as shown by our 86% growth rate.

In the 22 months since Beara Beara was launched the brand has gone from a small market stall to being a real competitor on the high street. With very little financial backing nor vast amounts of experience in the fashion industry, Beara Beara now has concessions in UK stores such as Topshop's flagship store on Oxford St, stockists in nine countries, has featured in several fashion shows along with celebrity endorsements from the likes of pop star Taylor Swift and radio DJ Fearne Cotton.

What we sell and who we sell it to

One of the brands greatest strengths is that we appeal to such a wide customer base. Teenage girls love the fun, colourful small suede backpacks and handbags while College and University students prefer the larger backpacks and satchels to carry all their books and laptops. Our more exclusive range appeals to those women who prefer a clean classic look, choosing quality and originality over hi-end branding. Our men’s range is all about the old-school look, using robust leather to create solid, last a lifetime backpacks and satchels.

The East Asian market is where a lot of our energy and focus will go over the coming year. We have identified a middle class of young professionals who have become our core customer base and who are attracted to our products due to the quality and style. These consumers are fascinated by handmade products, have significant disposable income and are decisive shoppers. With our website ready to go live in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese, along with our new distribution centres in Guangxi Provence and Taipei, we expect our sales to increase four fold in Asia over the coming year.

We are fast becoming an international brand purely through word of mouth and free social media. Add to this an experienced Head of Marketing armed with a budget, plus the impact of attending international trade shows, you can begin to understand how much potential exists.

We feel that we have just scratched the surface of the business potential not only in regards to customers but also in terms of products. Once our productions rates increase we will then have the manufacturing capability to look at expanding into other product ranges from wallets, leads, bicycle saddles, guitar cases, cowboy hats, laptop cases etc.
