Casa Oro is the “go-toќ spot for backpackers conscious travelers and surfers who want to be in the heart of the village in a peaceful and safe environment.
I escaped my corporate job on a quest for wholeness, collaborating on impactful projects that blend business, ecology and community. I've been traveling and living nomadically for the last decade. Travel experiences had a formidable impact on the person I have become. The deeper I went, the more concerned I grew of the adverse impacts travel can leave on local communities and environments. I decided I had to do something.
Casa Oro has been serving the needs of backpacker’s since 2001. It was built by and for backpackers to make San Juan Del Sur accessible to all budgets. We're in the center of the village, one block from the beachfront, making it a perfect base for exploring. We've become a staple in San Juan Del Sur and have evolved with the tourism boom in this once sleepy-fishing village. Our offerings have organically grown to include beds, shuttles, surf academy, rooftop bar and tours. Additionally, we're heavily involved with preserving the ecology of La Flor Nature Reserve, one of seven places in the world where Oliver Riddley Sea Turtles nest.
We're building an ecosystem of regenerative businesses. Casa Oro is the bread and butter. We're also working on building a regenerative community called Circulo. We are in the initial phases of this project. Our hope is to grow organic food, build with natural and recycled materials, and collaborate with the local community on empowerment programs.
