Ham and Petersham SOS provides services to older and or those with disabilities in a geographically isolated and deprived area of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Our ward is one of two with the highest population of over 75's with 50% of these individuals living alone. Currently the majority of our clients are 80+ with a large percentage over 85. Many of our clients want to stay active and independent and face challenges within our community as there is not an extensive public transport system, we have a minibus that can navigate our small streets and often do door to door pick ups in either private cars or the minibus to ensure mobility. Before the covid 19 pandemic struck we were working hard to improve social isolation, decrease loneliness, improve access and provide a social structure to the lives of our clients, the pandemic has seen our clients even more isolated and in some cases they haven't been out since 2020, our volunteers provide a lifeline to those who do not have friends, family or support locally.
