The IFA was one of the first professional bodies created in the field of Complementary and Alternative Therapy. We are the largest body representing Clinical Aromatherapy internationally. We create education programmes for professional training in Clinical Aromatherapy. We have three different Diploma courses for Aromatherapy to suit different levels of requirement ranging from an NVQ level 2 to a level 5. Our graduates go on to work in clinics, hospitals both privately and within the NHS. We pioneered clinical aromatherapy in the NHS and social services. Our therapists work in Cancer units. Most IFA therapists have worked in a voluntary capacity in hospices. One of our education diplomas targets educating carers - professional and family members - of the elderly(dementia) or young people with challenges such as autism. Such is the success of this diploma that a local authority in Liverpool pays for their Carers to complete this training. We registered the Aromatherapy Awareness Week - the second week in June - to raise awareness of the health benefits of Aromatherapy. We have our own charity projects and contribute to others internationally. We have 110 schools in 17 countries of the world.
