Ok To Be CIC works with teachers, social workers, youth workers, foster carers and adopters to build their understanding of the history of racism and the impact on children and young people. We then support the development of anti-racist practice in the relevant sectors. We work on the basis that if our children and young people are supported by adults who really understand racism there is less chance of it being perpetuated and therefore less racial harm being caused. We aim to:
advance the education of the public in the subject of anti-racism promote equity, diversity and inclusion for the public benefit by the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of race raise awareness of the different racial groups to promote good relations between persons of different racialised groups
Training and educating is carried out in-person or via video workshops. Thought provoking and interactive, the sessions challenge common myths and biases and build an accurate history of the growth of racism to ensure a solid foundation to build anti-racist action and practices upon.
