Dorchester Almshouses

The object of Dorchester Almshouses is the relief of financial hardship by the provision of social housing in the form of almshouse accommodation and ancillary equipment, services and financial relief for almspersons from the class of beneficiaries in a harmonious community, in accordance with our policies. Vacancies are filled from the class of beneficiaries: people in financial hardship who are inhabitants of the town of Dorchester or elsewhere in the county of Dorset. Dorchester Almshouses provides homes for life for residents who meet our eligibility criteria.  This enables residents to settle and improves their sense of stability, security and wellbeing.
