We are experts in housing advice, support and advocacy, here to help the people of Bristol and beyond navigate the path to a safe and secure home. We aim to find unique, long-term solutions for our clients, whatever their needs. Established in 1965, Housing Matters (formerly CHAS Bristol) provides free, specialist advice, holistic support and legal advocacy for people in financial & housing crisis in Bristol & surrounding areas, particularly where there are high levels of deprivation. We pride ourselves in working with clients for as long as it takes to solve their housing issues, and going beyond simply giving advice. For example, we support clients in emotional distress, refer clients to foodbanks, negotiate with landlords and advocate on a client’s behalf if legal issues arise. We also influence local housing policy, amplifying the voices of people with every day experience of the housing crisis at policy debates and decision-making forums.
