The Counselling Partnership helps those feeling low, depressed or anxious, often as a result of stress running a business, difficulties at work, difficulties with relationships, bereavement, redundancy or difficulties within their family. Although Surrey is thought of as a rich county there are significant areas of deprivation and it is these people who need help. We aim to help anyone in need no matter whether they can make a contribution to their counselling or not. Our volunteer counsellors provide counselling for up to three clients a week. They work discretely and maintain confidentiality with our clients and commit to seeing a client at the same time and same place each week for a period of six weeks to a year. The volunteer counsellors are only offered a placement with the Charity after a stringent and professional recruitment process, and have a 3 month trial period with us. They are supported by our Clinical Manager and receive supervision twice a month from experienced Supervisors. This comment from a client says a lot; “I saw a lovely friendly counsellor once a week for about eight weeks, and was able to talk to her without feeling judged or worrying if she thought I was stupid. She had an amazing way of making me work things out for myself and gave me the ability to see things very differently." Counselling not only helps the client it has a ripple effect for those around him or her. Communication with others will be more positive, helping others to act in a more positive way, too.
