Babylon Project

Babylon Project is a Community Interest Company (registered under Babylon Migrants Project), which runs creative activities by and for young people from refugee, asylum seeking and migrant backgrounds.  Our mission is to enable integration into life in the UK, by boosting young people’s confidence and providing them with the necessary tools to express themselves. We aim to help young refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to find community through creativity, gain creative skills, gain confidence expressing themselves and telling their stories, and build bridges with British young people.  . As of June 2022, over 120,000 people were waiting on asylum decisions, with thousands of young people being kept isolated from society in hotels while their claims are processed. Our activities aim to address the disadvantage and exclusion experienced by refugees and asylum seekers living in the UK, giving them a place where they can make friends, gain skills, and feel like they belong. We have seen from our participants’ feedback just how vital this can be.   One participant from a recent photography workshop said, “I met new friends and lovely people who supported me to do something I am passionate about. I was very low about my life and situation but now I want to become part of Babylon as a volunteer so I can support other people like me.”
