The Francis Bacon Society

The Francis Bacon Society was established in 1886 and is one of the oldest literary societies in the UK. We are a relatively small charity with 5 Trustees/Members of the Council and a Principal. We are an educational charity undertaking research into Francis Bacon, 16th century Lord Chancellor and polymath. We run regular meetings, talks and events for our members and assist with research, translations and publications including doctorates which we have funded in the past. Anyone with an interest in history and literature are helped by our Society in terms of the massive wealth of books that we own and the huge amount of knowledge and resources that we have access to.
