FRAME is an independent charity committed to replacing the use of animals in scientific research. For the past 50 years FRAME have played an active part in researching and promoting alternatives to animal testing. FRAME is dedicated to the development of scientifically valid, human-relevant methods that will replace the need for laboratory animals in medical and scientific research, education, and testing. The development of modern techniques that use human tissue and computer modelling will ultimately provide more relevant information on human diseases and more reliable methods for drug discovery than animal models. FRAME receives no government funding and is dependent on sponsorship, donations and legacies. The charity was founded in 1969 with the aim of eliminating the need to use laboratory animals in any form of medical or scientific procedures. Where the use of animals is necessary, FRAME has always supported the implementation of the Three Rs (Replacement. Reduction & Refinement).
