Charity Aim: Encouraging the residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to cycle more Maidenhead Cycle Hub is passionate about cycling and the wide range of benefits it brings:

Health and general fitness Environment Cycling in a group allows you to meet new people or helps reduce isolation

We try and help overcome the typical barriers to more people taking up cycling :

Cost: many high cycle shops only sell high specification equipment costing £100s or even £1000s Confidence: people lack the confidence to ride a bike especially on busy roads.  Knowledge of where to cycle: people don't know of safe and pleasant routes to ride in their local area Safety: people think that it is dangerous to cycle or worry about their bike being stolen when they go out  Maintenance: people are not sure how to look after their bikes, or how to fix a puncture when out on their bikes Some people are put off by not being able to get enough advice from the big retail bike shops Beginners worry they will not be welcomed by cycle clubs if they are too slow, or they do not want to be part of a ‘lycra brigade’

Our solution :  Maidenhead Cycle Hub provides a range of goods and services to encourage local residents to take up cycling or cycle more regularly:

We sell refurbished donated bikes at cost effective prices around 50% of the equivalent new cost. We regularly organise group rides for beginners and for families around the local area.

The routes introduce people to safe, low traffic routes, open spaces like the Jubilee River and the local cycle route networks.

Free 30 minute 'Dr Bike' bike 'mot' sessions for local residents where our trained mechanics check the bikes, make minor adjustments and indicate if any areas need additional attention Low cost bike servicing and repairs  Maintenance classes to teach people how to maintain their own bikes Talks and Training for local school and community groups about bike safety, basic maintenance and route planning Our shop volunteers give plenty of information and advice to help people choose a suitable bike, bike accessories and local cycling .
