At LIS, we have built a university that will give students the skills to go and tackle some of the most complex problems that we face in the world.
Students won’t be tied to the library. They will put their learnings to work through paid internships at some of the UK’s top organisations including Virgin, McKinsey, Innocent Drinks and the Met Police.
The LIS curriculum cuts across disciplinary boundaries, equipping students with knowledge and methods from across the arts, sciences and humanities.
Multifaceted real-world problems, such as childhood obesity, knife crime and the ethics of gene editing are placed at the heart of the degree. Students start with a problem and break it down to identify the different knowledge areas required to understand and analyse it. They then learn the methods needed to take action along with the skills to enable them to amplify their impact.

LIS is a new university founded on interdisciplinary lines - it's totally unlike anything else in higher education, a really exciting place to work!

Everyone is really intelligent (as you'd expect in a university), but also light and fun with it - there is zero pomposity!
📖 Opportunities to learn
All my colleagues have got interesting things going on in their lives - we all have backgrounds in the arts or sciences or social sciences, but everyone can do multiple things and I learn a lot from them!

Overall
LIS seeks to achieve something else to the usual higher education institutions found in the UK, and everyone in the team is on board with that. Its refreshing that the School is not weighed down by 50 years of 'baggage'. Its a cool mission, in a cool building, with a cool bunch of people - what more do you want?
